[ Sometimes peace does feel fleeting, at best. Professional heroes, in ways, have a 24/7 type of occupation. It could all depend on one's specialty area. ]
Busy because I did a few hours of training and later had a meeting with a few others at Endeavor's office. I managed to stop by to see my mom and have a quick lunch with her, too.
[ Momo's remark couldn't be more true. It's a little sad to think about, too. Now with their cats preoccupied on the floor with their new toys, Shouto shifts and lets himself bump shoulders with Momo, leaning against her. ]
[Ah, Endeavor. She's aware that the relationship between the two, while not hostile, is at best very measured. She'll focus on the encounter that undoubtedly elicits positive feelings, for now.]
Mhm. Meetings do tend to be tedious at times. I'm glad you're able to have lunch with your mother, though! If I knew you'd be meeting with her, I would've asked you to pass along that book of poems that I promise I'd lend her. Do you think she'd mind if I drop by even just by myself?
[A sad Shouto makes a sad Momo, too. So as he leans against her, she'll use her hand to guide his head on her shoulder so he's able to rest it there properly. And while he talks, Momo takes his hand in hers, pressing and massaging in places. Hey, he's not the only one who knows about those pressure points now. Hopefully it soothes him a bit.]
You know, since we've graduated, doesn't it feel like we haven't really taken any breaks? And I don't mean the off days we sometimes get here and there; those hardly count. I guess what I'm trying to say is... Ah, would you indulge me a bit if I told you a plan I've been thinking of for a while now? It may sound a bit selfish, though.
[ That's more or less the best way to describe what there is between he and his father. While it's clear, by this point, that Shouto doesn't doesn't harbor nearly as much hatred towards him, there will always be a rift between the two of them. It just simply isn't as much of a deep fissure as it had been. Forgiveness is a very slow, gradual process, but he won't be granting his father the whole of it. There's ultimately no pardoning what he drove Shouto's mother to do.
The fact that Momo continues along the subject of her, however, is something he gladly will engage in. ]
I don't think she would mind at all. She sees you as family. She would probably be very if you did.
[ Both a talented young woman and pro hero, and equally a kind heart who Shouto deserves every bit of. Rei had been surprised, but absolutely delighted when they began to see one another, becoming increasingly fond of Momo when she began to see just how deeply her son felt for her.
Shouto easily relaxes into the gentle gesture as he lets his eyes slip shut for the time being. ]
[His words remind Momo of a time when the prospect of meeting any of his family was something she considered nerve-wracking, as she was worried whether they'd approve of her or not. It seems silly now, of course. They've been nothing but kind to her and supportive of them. If they see her as part of the family by now, she feels the same. Besides, it truly does reinforce how much she's become part of his life now – something that she's both happy and grateful about. She makes a mental note to meet with Rei as soon as her schedule allows it, and to buy flowers to bring over then.
Moving on, she notices him relax perhaps too much into the massage and she smiles.]
Well, don't sleep on me before I even begin!
[She knows he won't, but! the opportunity to tease must always be taken. Anyhow, she'll take his other hand now to work on that as she continues.]
Let's take a vacation. Just the two of us. Somewhere a bit farther – Europe's quite nice this time of the year, you know. And I've went a few times already back when I was a teenager, so we won't be quite as lost.
We'll file formal requests with our agencies, of course. Ask around among our peers who can cover our shifts for us in the meantime and work out a deal that'll be acceptable in return. I'm certain if we managed that, then there won't be a reason to not grant the request.
A week at minimum. Two if we're very, very lucky. And when we're there, we'll make up for all the times we had to miss each other because of work. Go on dates. Eat a lot. Or whatever it may be that you'd like to do as well. Then... at times when we're extremely busy, and when I miss you and you miss me, then we'll at least have that vacation to look back on and it'll be enough to tide us over.
[ Silly in hindsight, yes. Even his father was accepting of Momo. Obviously it wouldn't have stopped Shouto if he wasn't. Enji isn't so harsh and difficult, among other things, as he was for most of Shouto's life, but it still bears a certain weight to be approved of.
He listens to her in silence. For as easing as Momo's touch is, no, of course he won't fall asleep. Maybe there's even proof to that, given the bit of a smile that crosses his lips as Momo continues to speak, with his eyes still shut. She really has put a lot of thought into the idea. Once which he has no opposition to— ]
We should.
[ Sorry if she expected a reply of equal length. Shouto is just as aware as Momo that, not only could they immensely do with the time off, but also that, honestly, they deserved it. Neither are the type to put themselves on a pedestal high above the rest. It's just an acknowledged truth that they consistently exceed what's expected of them. ]
It's a perfect idea. Where in Europe did you have in mind?
[The laconic response is honestly not an issue. What truly mattered was his agreement and support. Besides, she can always infer from his voice his interest. Ah, and in addition, it very much feeds her confidence whenever she gets praised. "Perfect idea." Heh.
Presently, her eyes will light up at the question and the answer comes fast, as if it's been on her mind all this time.]
France! Paris, specifically. It's been so long since I've went. Plus it's the city of love, after all! I do want to visit their museums then try out the local cuisine... We can go to other places too, of course. There's Venice, too. Then perhaps Greece? Oh, Russia! Moscow has a matryoshka museum that my parents took me to when I was a kid! I wonder if they had new additions to their collections now...? And oh, oh! I need to take photos of you in an ice castle—
[Well. He probably knows by now how much she talks when she's excited. The intended itinerary is pretty grand because money is of no consequence. Will all this even fit in a week or two? Maybe, maybe not. The initial enthusiasm eases into a comforting silence soon, then she adds:]
Though I suppose the "where" doesn't truly matter, in the end. I'd be happy so long as you're with me.
[ Yes, he knows by now, but her enthusiasm is both cute, and a challenge to not chuckle at. At the very beginning when they started seeing one another, it was even a little overwhelming at times. After all, he wasn't so directly affected when they had been more simply acquainted through mutual friends. Now there's something charming about it. ]
We will need to be extra convincing when we put in our request for the time off, if that's the case.
Maybe we could narrow it to Paris and Russia for starters. Then, depending on the duration we're allowed, we can figure out the details. I think it would be a great idea if you were able to revisit that museum, too. It played an important part in your childhood.
[ A type of experience which Shouto can't claim to have had much of, himself. Positive nostalgia is to be cherished. ]
An ice castle. . .?
[ He can make one, himself, though? There's something he probably isn't catching onto. Except, with the way she continues, the thought idles for another thought. ]
What about somewhere brand new for the both of us?
[ He shifts a little, smiling to her words while now resting his forehead to her temple. ]
You're right, though. It really wouldn't matter where at all.

What do you think?
